For decades I have casually observed this process from a distance, and without skin in the game.
The borders “awarded” to Israel have been constantly enlarged outward, ostensibly to create a buffer or neutral zone for Israel’s protection. Then the “settlers” encroach into the buffer zone, creating the pretense for a new buffer zone to be carved out of Palestinian villages and olive groves.
Israel has the upper hand, with weapons, with finances, with the media, and with the US Congress. Yet they are losing the the hearts and minds of the people of the world, like me.
For most of my life, I didn’t much care about the squabbles between Israel and the Palestinians. But the sheer brutality of Netanyahu’s government has caused me to stand up and take notice, to take a side.
Israel may win this current war, but by their genocidal actions they have irretrievably lost their carefully constructed mantle of “world’s most oppressed people”.
