Sometimes the youth need to demonstrate to themselves that they too can get involved in social change. These involvements need some sort of funding. But the funders usually condition the direction of the protests. The individuals feel self rewarded by their protests of civil disobedience. Of course nothing happens within a vacuum and their are ramifications. But even being arrested can be a reward for the youngster proving to himself/herself that the act of defiance if not helping anyone else, does boost their self confidence.
