From New York: Gaza war, not outside agitators, cause of Columbia protests
New York City Mayor Eric Adams this week referred to “outside agitators” co-opting the pro-Palestinian encampments and demonstrators at Columbia University and City College of New York (CCNY) this week, following the arrests of 282 protesters at the Manhattan colleges.
Adams said 29% of those arrested at Columbia and 60% of those at CCNY were not affiliated with the universities.
“The numbers are opaque, and the definition of affiliated, or unaffiliated, is unclear,” said Shayeza Walid, graduate at Columbia University’s School of Journalism and reporter for the Spectator, the campus newspaper.
