The people illegally occupying Palestine at the moment are most certainly NOT “Gods’ chosen people”. Galatians 3:16 and 3:29 explains who the promises of Genesis 12:1-3 apply to. The ones you think of as “Israel” today are the ones referred to in Revelation 3:9…they are not who they say they are. Jesus was from the tribe of Judah (Matthew 1:1-16 and Luke 3:23-38) and yes, John 4:22 does record Jesus as saying “we” and identifying as a Jew…just as it also records Him as saying…”Before Abraham was…I AM” (John 8:58). So, not simply ” a Jew” by any means because the other Jews immediately recognized the implications of who he claimed to be and on numerous occasions sought to kill Him. The importance of Jesus’ lineage was not to leave Judaism unchanged and be just another Jew, but rather to FULFILL THE LAW. (Matthew 5:17). In doing this, He accomplished what no one else before Him had done because they were unable to keep the law. (John 7:19). The most important part of this whole story about the law it that Jesus said “It Is Finished” when he had paid the price for the sins of the world.
