Nothing wrong with lobbying – often instigates good stuff. Cleaner water and air. Better health and safety standards.

America’s politicians are all owned. Privately funded and owned by the plutocracy.
Example: in 1998 the Finance Industry wanted the Glass-Steagall Act repealed. It may have needed reforming but it provided safeguards – you needed a 10% deposit for a mortgage, you couldn’t borrow more than four times income. Repealed and America went on an orgy of bad loans- they were lending eleven times earnings, 200% of property value. This all collapsed in 2008 and America gave the world the Financial Crisis 2008. They got bailed out by China and the EU – no hint of repayment so far and highly unlikely.
Covid -Big Pharma fixed it so that AstraZenecha wouldn’t get FDA approval. A quarter of the price and as the EU has considerably higher safety requirements a complete scam!
