The Palestinian society seems to have such a high degree of corruption, quite probably achieving a semi-democracy is out the question for them. If elections were to be part of a Palestinian state, then it is very possible that the population would once again repeat how they voted in the past and elect Hamas or another political entity dedicated to holy-war and elimination of the State of Israel. Just because a state is formed, does not make it an humane state or one that will treat its citizens well. Perhaps a military dictatorship would be more along the lines for a Palestinians state, considering that the party receiving the highest number of votes was Hamas years back.
