In 2019 the US revoked Bensouda’s visa. The UN criticised the visa revocation.
In 2020 the US president issued an executive order that allowed the US to block assets of ICC employees and prevented their families from entering the country. Then US Secretary of State sought to sanction Bensouda.
In 2021 the US lifted sanctions against Bensouda and visa restrictions.
