Their pain is real, but their thinking is in the short-term. Allowing the Palestinian jihadis to fulfil their promises of more October 7 type murderous sprees is short-term. Degrading the jihadis to the point where their capacity for more atrocities is greatly reduced is long-term planning. To the hostages rescued is extremely important, but not at the cost of invigorating the Palestinian jihadis of massacring even more innocent people.
