A Syrian army officer was killed in a suspected Israeli drone strike in south Syria on Wednesday, amid deepening regional tensions resulting from the war in the Gaza Strip.
A Syrian military source cited by the state-run SANA news agency said Israeli drone attacks struck two military sites in the southern provinces of Daraa and Quneitra, without adding more details.
The unnamed source added that the attack killed an officer and caused material damage.
The UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) said an Israeli drone hit two sites belonging to the Syrian army’s Brigade 112 in the Saida village between the countrysides of Daraa and Quneitra, near the Israeli-occupied Golan.
