Funny, I thought the British forced partition by withdrawing. Who should have governed when the British bailed? Give it back to the Turks? Partition was intended to stop the bloody warfare. Why didn’t the Arabs accept it? Instead they started a civil war–and lost. And when the victorious Israelis declared independence, five Arab armies invaded–and lost. And the rest is history–mostly bloody.
