It is my opinion that during the decades when Turkey was begging to be admitted to the European Union that it should have understood that the chances were not good and it is should have stopped embarrassing itself by appearing to be begging the Europeans to admit it to what is essentially a group of Christian countries. A few years ago, none other than the Pope himself was on record saying that he did not approve of Turkey becoming a member of the European Union. Turkey should simply stop begging to belong to a group of Christians and Turkey is actually 99% Muslim.
