Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, Palestine, Jordan, Tunisia, Algeria, Libya were occupied by the Ottomans after 1516 and therefore the Spanish Jews could not have gone to these countries when they got expelled in 1492. If the Ottoman government did invite them, then they could have gone to Bulgaria, Serbia, Croatia, Greece. Was that where the Spanish Jews wound up going?
