Genesis 48:21 Then Israel said to Joseph: I am about to die, but God will be with you and take you back to the land of your fathers.
This is so strange because his grandfather Abraham and his grandmother Sarah came from Mesopotamia which today is Iraq – 1,000 miles away from Palestine. Why would he refer to Palestine as the land of his fathers when in fact Mesopotamia was the land of his fathers going back hundreds of generations? Do you have a good explanation why a foreign people from Mesopotamia would refer to Palestine as the land of their fathers?
