The Ashkenazi and the Christians of Europe consider the Jews of Spain and Portugal to be a much higher class of Jews than the Ashkenazi. You see, the difference is that the Iberian Jews are of Iberian origin and they have culture and pride but the the Ashkenazi who used to be known as Khazars converted to Judaism in the 9th century, and they began to say that they were the Hebrews!
