The Syrian Captagon industry is responsible for about 80% of the global production. Syria exports the drug to various countries, mainly in the Middle East region, including Jordan, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Gulf states, and Egypt, as well as to organizations such as Hamas and ISIS. The majority of pills are produced in Syria, and a small portion in Lebanon by Hezbollah. On 7 October 2023, large quantities of Captagon were found on the bodies of dead Gazan fighters.
