The 1947 UN General Assembly vote followed the US orchestrated UNSCOP debacle – (notwithstanding concerted efforts by the US Department of State to honour the 1922 League of Nations Mandate pledge that no discriminatory ethnic or religious bias was envisioned).
The Mandate Pledges? Specifically promised all civil and property rights were to enjoy protection, irrespective the ethnicity of the persons concerned – for the simple reason that no provision was intended ‘for partition along ethnic/religious lines’.
