The Mizrahi Jews (the majority in Israel) are, for the most part, more right-wing than the Ashkenazi, many of whom are secular and liberal. But blood and soil nationalism isn’t the way to go – it’s wrong whoever does it, whether done by Israel or Palestine. Every child born there should be equal regardless of ancestry, once this fascist Israeli government is gone. People don’t choose their ancestors or where they’re born. I have no sympathy for people who choose to illegally settle in the occupied territories, but a child born in Israel isn’t responsible for being born there, so regardless of ancestry they should be equal.
Otherwise, by going down the blood and soil nationalism route, people in Europe could call for everyone not of European descent to be expelled. Most everyone knows that’s ridiculous – the same applies in Israel/Palestine.
Blame people for their individual actions, not for their ancestry. Blood and soil nationalism is a dead end. Prosecute the war criminals because of their ACTIONS, not because they might not have the right DNA. (And since most Israelis are Mizrahi, even if you did expel all the Ashkenazi Jews, the even more fascist Mizrahi Jews would still be there.
Ancestry-based arguments are wrong, no matter where in the world people are born or live. No-one is responsible for their ancestry, and most Western countries have a huge mix of ancestries amongst them. I know that some people would approve if every country became an ethnostate, but most people think that’s a racist idea. Replacing a Jewish ethnostate with an Arab ethnostate isn’t the answer to the problems in the Middle East. Generations have been born there. You can’t undo an injustice by doing a new injustice – the children born in Israel/Palestine today are not responsible for the Nakba or terrorism, no matter who they are, so if we can prosecute all the war criminals, the children should get to grow up with full equality.
