It’s true that the historical parallels on which Musk bases his plans only go so far. Painting Hamas and Palestinian resistance in general as either the political and ideological equivalent of pre-War Germany, or as the product of an unacceptable religious and cultural Islamic tradition, is straightforwardly false on both counts. From the beginning, the conflict has been a war against the people, the Palestinians, for whom no rights were recognized–a war against their presence and against their existence. Until those who would make peace and “change the Middle East” recognize this reality, they will solve nothing.
