The USA has been a fair weather friend only since 1968 for its own security reasons. It advised Israel against declaring statehood and had a weapons embargo in 1947-48. Russia was the first to recognize Israel and supplied arms in 1947-48.
China and Russia would welcome Israel with open arms if it decided to switch alliances. Jews prefer the USA but it could change.
