As the ceasefire takes hold across the Gaza Strip, thousands of Palestinians are returning to their neighbourhoods where they face scenes of overwhelming destruction.
Many are trying to pick up the pieces of their lives as they return to the rubble of what was once their homes.
Others have found charred walls or only part of their house still standing.
Many are also sifting through the ruins of their homes to find precious family belongings. AL JAZEERA
