Turkey and Egypt need to provide each other with full support. Egypt should support Turkey’s efforts to stabilise and unify Syria. Turkey should provide full support to Egypt and Jordan to secure their borders and protect the Palestinians. Egypt (and Jordan) is particularly vulnerable at the moment in light of Israel’s hopes to drive the Gazans into Egypt. Not only would this be a breach of the Israel-Egypt Peace Treaty, but Egypt’s dependence on US military hardware has left them in a weak position to defend themselves against Israel. Sisi has reportedly reached out to the Chinese to discuss a purchase of J-10 and possibly FC-31/J-35 fighter jets, but this is will most likely be too little, too late.
