The delusion is breathtaking (“Look what you made me do”). Israel has its own agency, and can decide whether or not to break international law at every turn and behave without any morality – in terms of proportionality, collective punishment, targeting civilians, including children, withholding aid, including food, water, fuel, medicines; mass destruction of infrastructure, residential buildings, schools, universities, hospitals, bakeries, agricultural land, cultural and ancient heritage sites (you heard Trump say the whole place is “a demolition site”). They even killed their own people when they were walking along, shirtless, waving a white flag, so used to sniping civilians are they.
There are rules of war, codified into international law, and when you deliberately act outside them, you are committing terrorism. But Israel only ever responds with extreme catastrophic violence, dropping 2,000 lb bombs from height on a besieged population and sending missiles into tents.
A state founded on violence and sustained through violence, the cycles of which generate more resistance fighters who have seen their families slaughtered around them, over and over – whose parents had been violently evicted from their homes, with possessions stolen, subject to brutal apartheid (ruled illegal by the ICJ), occupation (also ruled illegal by the ICJ) and treated as third class citizens ever since.
