If the eldest Sinwar sibling understood one thing, it was using ‘kidnapping’ as a tool against Israel. Unfortunately Israel, has been caught sleeping-on-the-job, more than once, concerning its security operations. Part of the problem is that Israelis tend to delegate that to the security forces, and the public gets less involved, thus less prepared itself. The self-defence teams in the Negev villages were inadequate. But now, many more local folks will organise themselves against future terror attacks. Lessons learnt the hard way are those that remain the longest.
