Jews did not call themselves Palestinians and neither did the Arabs. Ben Gurion was Head of a Provisional government as per the Mandate for Palestine. Palestine was a Roman name. The Arabs called themselves South Syrians. Britain just retained the name Palestine in areas it did not give to the Arabs.
Jews always lived in so called Palestine.
