None of this mess would be necessary if Hamas had not made a genocidal attack on Israelis and rounded up hundreds of Israeli hostages of all ages.
Hamas initiated this war and they could have ended it at anytime in the last year and half by laying down their arms and releasing all the hostages. Instead they sill hold hostages and vow that there will be more October 7’s, leaving Israel with no choice but to continue.
