Civilians and military personnel need to take adequate precautions against being kidnapped and becoming bartering chips at the jihadi poker table. If you want to dance your hearts out 24/7 along the Gazan barrier, so be it. If you want to farm the land up to the Gazan barrier, so be it. But if you dance and farm within a fantasy bubble, then that bubble will eventually burst. Obviously adequate precautions by the IDF were not take, NOR by the Israeli population in Negev either.
