Not sure how anything you mention has to do with my prior point but I’ll address your own It’s true that the socialists were pro-Palis (and not only Greece) but keep in mind back then Israel was cozying up to Greece’s nemesis Turkey. I’m pretty sure a lot of Jews are currently heavily reassessing their decision to get friendly with Erdogan these last few years too.. Today Israel keeps good relations with the former Yugoslav republic which they claim as “Macedonians” right? They are as “Macedonian” as much as the Palestinians are the Maccabees.. and everyone well knows it.
And it’s true that Turkey has been known to push around Greeks but keep in mind our borders have increased more than yours in the last two hundred years despite a declining birth rate while the Ottoman empire is a tiny fraction of what it was. And its not like any of our other neighbours were pro-Greek (Balkan wars, Nazi invasion, first hot front of the cold war). it’s not all losses despite that Turkey outnumbers us 9 to 1.
Despite the occupation of Greece by Turks I don’t hate all Turks. And I fully support Turks having a homeland of their own. Nor do I support irredentism against Turkey today (that ship has sailed). I am just hostile to the neo-Ottoman extremist element (like Erdogan) that imply parts of Greece belong to Turkey. I strive for peace but if anything threatens the soverignty of Greece or comes after Hellenism I work vigorously to undermine their interests. I’m sure you can relate in your own way with Israel.
