That’s a technical solution based on the assumption that human beings are rational rather than emotional and that Palestinian social values are Western, that they can be bribed by economic prosperity. That kind of incentive doesn’t work on those who are “true believers”. The leadership is corrupt, they’ll siphon off aid for the betterment of themselves and their immediate family, but use the what’s left to continue jihad. At least two of the founding leaders, Meshal and Haniyah live in the lap of luxury abroad, and several others have foreign villas. (Which also proves that if one has money, travel abroad is no issue.)
In 2017 Hamas was offered economic aid which could have turned Gaza into a Singapore on the Med in return for disarmament. THEY TURNED IT DOWN SAYING IF THEY WANTED TO BE SINGAPORE THEY’D HAVE DONE IT THEMSELVES. Macedonians, I expect, want economic advancement. They don’t want to exterminate Greeks. My limited understanding is that the sticking point is about who has the right to use the name and whether Greece and Macedonia should be one nation or two.
Just like the FSU, it will take a generation or two for the corruption in Hamas to spread further to weaken the whole sufficiently to change Palestinian society, with no guarantees that this will happen. It also took the same time to turn China from rigid ideological communism to state supported capitalism. Or perhaps this war will sufficiently decimate those jihadists who support genocide. To paraphrase and pun with a reference to Greek mythology…. time has the ability to wound all heels.
I agree with some of your points, but not all, for similar reasons.
