The IDF etc were killing other jews in preference to them being taken hostage. That was what Hamas was doing that day grabbing hostages to swap for the more than 5000 children israel has abducted from Gaza & west bank without any trial or attempt at telling concerned parents where their children are. Hamas wanted hostages not bodies, the bodies were down to israel. This is easily verified by looking at vids of the Kibbutzes hit that day with major heavy weapons not the light weapons Hamas carried.
