Erdogan is not a moderate. He’s a national extremist. He had a coalition govermment with MHP… a front for racist terrorist organization Turkish Grey Wolves for goodness sake which is Turkish version of Greek Golden Donkeys. He lectures Israel about two state solution with Palestinians, then changes tunes with Kurds. He violated UNCLOS in the Aegean and acted like Greece was the one to blame for the situation.
I don’t trust Erdogan and never will because he’s unprincipled on issues like all extreme nationalists. Nevertheless I want to improve relations with Turkey even if Erdogan is in power. It is far better to focus on trade than conflict.
