This is not surprising since Netanyahu has set very ambitious war aims. Eliminating Hamas is going to be much harder in Gaza than it was for President Al-Sisi to eliminate the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt. It will be more like the ongoing efforts to extirpate them from Syria and Iraq.
The Muslim Brotherhood had been an illegal organisation in Egypt for decades until a revolution brought them temporarily to power until Egypt. Revulsion of their policies quickly resulted in their removal and replacement with a semi-secular dictatorship.
On the other hand, in the in dominatable spirit of freedom and democracy, Israel allowed Hamas (the Palestinian offshoot of the Muslim Brotherhood) to flourish in Gaza and now everyone is paying the steep price of permitting a bunch of Islamic mafiosi to get its foot in the door and into the brains of every resident of Gaza. It will be a work of monumental change in minds to bring the locals to their senses.
The TINA principle applies here: There Is No Alternative.
