As is historical hallmark, that the beginning of the decline of an Empire (in this case current US global Empire) is that they start to struggle to maintain full control over their established and valued key trade routes, herein, the vital sea-lane leading to Suez Canal. Slow loss of control over key trade routes is a common denominator in the historical decline of major Empires, from Mongols to Romans.
