No question that approximately half left and half were driven off by to other parts of Palestine by war. They got a raw deal because of Arab leadership, otherwise they would be celebrating 75 years of independent statehood today with pre-1967 lines, and you would still have two million Palestinian Arabs living in Israel proper as well.
