Re: Targeting UNRWA: Whose gain?! – Middle East Monitor

Who gains? One might be surprised. Or not.

Aside from Hamas the other beneficiary… UNRWA executives. According to the web site comparably, the average UNRWA executive compensation is $237,168 a year. The median estimated compensation for executives at UNRWA including base salary and bonus is $239,672, or $115 per hour. At UNRWA, the most compensated executive makes $700,000, annually, and the lowest compensated makes $50,000.

What’s more, the UN has agreements with member states that their personnel pay no local taxes. That’s right – their salary is tax free!

Add in kickbacks and bribes for ignoring tunnels, weapons and looking away from violations of UN neutrality and you can see why the leadership of Hamas (er) UNRWA is so opposed to ending the gravy train.
