Malcolm X left the Nation of Islam (NOI) went to Hajj & became a proper Muslim. There was some lingering resentment between him & the NOI leader Elijah Muhammad, who deemed Malcolm as a threat b/c he was well-informed about the foibles of the NOI, & it was they who threatened & eventually assassinated him. Really tragic ending to such a promising intelligent well-spoken man.
