Everyday of the week for five months, Hamas could have ended this fiasco by laying down their arms and releasing the hostages. As long as Hamas keeps firing rockets into Israel and ignores the UN and ICJ call for unconditional release of all the hostages, it lets the world know who Israel is dealing with.
The good people of Gaza would get all the humanitarian aid they could possibly use if they did those two things, but Hamas is will to sacrifice the innocent for their cause.
