The Israeli military engineers have completed a new straight extra wide unpaved reinforced road running east-west across Gaza that essentially cuts off the two northern governorates (North Gaza and Gaza); from the three southern governorates (Deir al-Balah (Middle Gaza), Khan Yunis, and Rafah). It was cut across low-demographic lands to avoid the direct contract with the population. Along the mega road are deep trenches to reduce human mobility. This ‘barrier’ will facilitate the cleaning operations in the two northern governorates, and limit the influx of Hamas militias returning northward. Eventually another military logistic barrier road will be built east-west dividing the two governorates of Deir al-Balah (Middle Gaza), and Khan Yunis.
