Re: Thousands once again flood London streets to demand immediate ceasefire in Gaza

That’s not a democracy. You voting for someone else to make the decisions on your behalf is not a democracy. You making the decisions yourself is a democracy.

How do words on a piece of paper (constitution) prevent a sovereign from becoming an authoritarian after they’ve already taken (or been given) power?

My point is simple. The republic is corrupted by the plutocrats and that’s why the West is engaging in genocide against the Palestinian people in complete contradiction to the morals and ethics they espouse to the public. A liberal democracy doesn’t work because it doesn’t exist. If it did exist it still wouldn’t work and it would devolve into chaos. What works is the “informed people” who are ethical, moral, etc making the best decisions on behalf of the public. A public that has an audit at the end because the whole system doesn’t work without their participation.
