You want Israel to make concessions to a leadership which is unable to tell its people,
in their own language, repeatedly and convincingly, before elections and after:
“Citizens, the war is over. We have chosen the path of compromise and peace.
We will honor our commitments because that’s what honest people do.
We will seek our prosperity, regardless of possible benefits to Israel”.
Anwar Sadat did less than that, and got everything he wanted.
How about a gesture like agreeing that Jews can pray at the Temple Mount
in any numbers, at their convenience?
It wouldn’t involve any real concessions, just acceptance of historic truth.
Palestinians lie, not only as a war tactic, but to *create* conflict,
and they use the conflict as an excuse for any and every atrocity.
The Oslo accords were a major concession by Israel. Arafat could have used
them to begin a new, mutual trust. His perfidy ruined it all.
