American is a citizenship not an ethnicity. Your ethnic identity seems to be Jewish. There is nothing wrong with that even if you are mixed heritage. No one is racially pure but many of us still have cultural allegiances. We just have to respect others that also have their own. Where problems arise is when one group does not respect the other.
