Andrew’s take: After strike, US should reset terms for dialogue with Iran
The US military’s decision to launch strikes Friday on Iran-affiliated militias in Iraq and Syria in response to the Jan. 28 drone attack in Jordan that killed three American service members and injured more than 40 should be followed up with a new US term sheet for US-Iran engagement and Iran’s posture in the region.
Diminishing returns
This column has argued that Iran has been mostly on the defensive since Oct. 7. The losses by Hamas and Islamic Jihad are irreparable blows to what some call the Iranian-led “axis of resistance.”
