Since mid-April 2023, the Sudanese army, led by Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, and the Rapid Support Forces, led by Mohammad Hamdan Dagalo ‘Hemedti’, have been fighting for power in a war that has killed more than 15,000 and displaced millions, according to the UN.
I got so angry when I read this! don’t we have enough powerful Muslim groups who can do effective mediation among conflicting Muslims? Why can’t the Sudanese people decide who should be in charge of their government by doing a referendum? Why does the solution look so simple to me and yet this fighting is so serious that thousands of the Sudanese have died and way too many are facing starvation! I remember when Sudan was normalizing with the deadliest enemies of Arabs and I became extremely angry and then I happened to meet a Sudanese at a store and I began telling him what I thought about that can he told me that he agreed with me. I wonder if the news had gotten in touch with with one or the Sudanese groups in conflict and promised them this and that and that was the reason why they decided to normalize.
