Re: A documentary-level introduction to the 1979 Iranian Revolution

I agree with all of your points except one thing. I am an Iranian and an informed supporter of Dr. Mossadegh. However i disagree on the characteristics of Mohammad Reza Shah. He was a very weak person and came to power two times first, by blessing from the British occupying army, the same who brought the Original Pahlavi, Reza Shah to power. he second time Mohammed Reza came to power by the aiding hand of the United States. But, he cared about Iran. He really wished the country to progress. In the memoir written by his friend and closest consultant, the minister of Royal Court, Asadollah Alam you can feel that Shah really thought about a better future for Iran. What was then wrong was his weak personality and the fact that in critical situations he lost himself totally. in 1979 he was fatally ill and had no one around himself. This, because of his developed dictatorship that made the officials being afraid to tell the truth to him. Again it was the Americans who interfered in Iranian affairs, convinced the Royal Army to stay passive and helped Khomeini to come to power.
