What is Zionism?
*It’s the culmination of a late 19th century political movement, spurred by Jewish nationalist ardour, using any means necessary. It sought to redefine Jewishness in nationalist terms, diminishing religiosity. The location induced a hokey sentimentalism for its latest denizens.
*For anti-Zionists it’s a pre-emption and profaning of scriptural prophecy. The whole process of establishing Zion via ill-gotten means lacked the divinity that would convince them of its moral defensibility.
Easy to say Zionism “lacks moral defensibility”, but it was realised on the back of the Shoah. That said, relocating Jews to the JA Oblast in the mid-1930s would’ve been the most utilitarian option.
