Hamas claims 30,000 Gazans dead. Israel claims 14,000 Hamas killed.
(1) For urban fighting this is actually quite a low ratio of civilian to combatants killed–barely 1:1.
(2) Number of commanders is far less than the number of fighters.
(3) By any count still leaves thousands of well-supplied Hamas fighters who won’t share with Gazan civilians.
