Any type of prisoner has a right to trial not summary execution.. Hamas crimes are nothing compared to Nazis. After WW2 very few Nazis prisoners were killed. Just leaders and those clearly identified as having committed crimes outside the scope of warfare.. And that after a trial of substance not show trials like the Nazis and Communists used to have.
In politic science there is a concept called framing. Take something someone does that’s very bad, but make it seem reasonable by attaching nice words to describe it. So a far right party that is racist can become a “freedom” party. The current government of North Korea isn’t a totalitarian state.. it’s “democratic republic”. George Bush Jr. used “enhanced interrogation” not state sponsored torture. Turks didn’t try to commit genocide when they murdered 75 percent of Turkish Armenians on mostly death marches it was just civil war. And so on.
Those that use framing for the sake of unprincipled self-interest sometimes get away with it in their lifetimes. Future generation will not be kind to their narratives because a lie will always be temporary while the truth is forever. They bring shame to themselves and their causes for eternity forward for just a moment in time. It’s a terrible trade-off..
