The British made Palestine a colony beginning in 1917. Before that the Palestinians were citizens of the Turkish Ottoman Empire, and had political representation in its government as Palestinians. Britain didn’t actually make Palestine a colony, because it couldn’t. It was illegal to do that. Britain just wanted to get away with a lot of things.
