Yesterday— Resolution 2728 (2024), adopted with 14 votes in favour and one abstention (United States), “demands” an immediate ceasefire for the remainder of Ramadan, respected by all parties and “leading to a lasting sustainable ceasefire”.
It also demands the immediate and unconditional release of all hostages and calls for ensuring humanitarian access to address their medical and other humanitarian needs.– (The ICJ called for the “immediate and unconditional release of all Israeli hostages” months ago) Does anyone understand the definition of “immediate and unconditional”?
——Hamas had this option for five and half months, and still no signs of “immediate and unconditional release of all hostages”. The media is trying to make an issue between the US and Israel, but this does reinforce the ICJ’s call for “immediate and unconditional release of all hostages”.——— If Hamas does not put an immediate effort physical or verbally to release the hostages today, then “immediate and unconditional” has no meaning, and nothing has really changed. This is Hamas’s last and best chance to comply with any kind of temporary ceasefire. Let’s see what they do now!
