What a steep slide down from the dreams and ideals that arose during the Kennedy years, to the fully vested interests and self-seeking power-hungry motivations of today, accompanied by the world’s largest smokescreen of human rights posturing. Guantanamo belongs to the underbelly of what the United States has finally and darkly become. Of course it would run such a place. Look and see what America now stands for. Look at what at did in Iraq. Look at what it’s doing with Israel in Gaza, the West Bank, and Lebanon. Look at how it’s deliberately destabilizing the entire region, and how it’s been doing so for years. More can be added to the list. I would never want to visit America, anymore than I would want to set foot in the town where the prime instigator of WW2 was born. I feel no positive human desire in doing such a thing.
