Imperialist Japan was largely flattened by US during WW2. Today Japan are prosperous democratic country. They didn’t achieve their current wealth through “imperialism” and “Neo-collonialism”. They did it through working hard and smart and picking democracy.. South Korea is rich while north Korea is dirt poor for similar reasons.
The nations that look in the mirror for the source of their economic problems can go get about fixing them. Any populists in poorer nations that think the US much less some “the west” cabal are to blame for all their economy problems are destined to remain poor.
